Fire and Ice (The Sword and the Rose)

Fire and Ice (The Sword and the Rose) - Wayne Krabbenhoft III First of all I got this book from a Goodreads giveaway.

I'm very particular about my books, especially those that fall under the fantasy genre, and I must say that the author has issued something very interesting in the realm of fantasy. I could not put Fire and Ice down for the life of me. It just held me to find out what would happen next.

The characters are developed wonderfully, no "Mary Sue's" or "Gary Stu's" in this story at all. Each character, whether they be main character or just a brief mention in paragraph or two, is well developed and distinct. Fire and Ice is very well written and extremely detailed. The story was very complex, but not too complex to be confusing. The story also has a wonderful balance of action, humor, in world history, and a hint of romance. I love the writing style of the author, who found a wonderful balance of pacing. There are plenty of twists and turns.

I cannot wait for the next book. So far Fire and Ice is one of two favorite reads of 2013 and one of many favorite reads. Fire and Ice is one of my all time favorite fantasy stories.
